A woman who hates to be in the Kitchen.

I hail from a typical conservative Marwari family. If you do not know how to tie a saree or how to cook you are a loser. But if you are well-read and can speak good English, mind you, you are a dominating spoilt brat. I am not blaming my family or its values. I am not blaming even the society. I am only blaming the mind set of a few people I know.

My husband and I often visit my in-laws who live about 487 Km from the city where I currently reside in. After having travelled for about 6 hours in the trains (you know how it is) and having travelled in the local auto on those bumpy roads we reach that SWEET HOME. My husband is given breakfast and tea whereas I am supposed to immediately get into the bath and get myself cleaned. Because I am the daughter-in-law. And I am supposed to follow rules. Yes, I am more qualified than my partner and he is proud of it. Seriously.

My dear father invested a lot of money on my marriage. Yes, he did. But being a smart business-man he invested a good deal on my education as well. He made sure I graduated from one the most prestigious colleges of the city. I also am a post graduate in Finance and Banking. But since I am a woman I have to compromise and wake up early in the morning and cook for my husband and look after him.

I deal with shit and shitty people. It is a tedious task indeed. I know a lot of literate idiots as well. Some of them are my relatives. I belong to a society where if a girl is born it is sad. I know a woman closely related to me who does not have a daughter herself but feels pity for whoever gives birth to a baby girl. And this lady is quite educated.

A few months ago a relative of mine gave birth to a baby girl. Is this not great news! But I heard this wow woman saying and I quote, "Don't be sad. Try for a boy next time. What can be done now?" I pitied her thinking.

We hear a lot of debates which clearly say that women today are not only equal to men but are more forward and developed. Right! Are we sure because these developed women are getting raped almost every day because of their broad-mindedness and out-of-the-box thinking?

To be continued...

Because you shall remain in my heart...

I am not sure how inspiring my writings can be. I don't write for entertainment. I write because it gives me immense pleasure. It lets me express my thoughts in a better way. Or maybe writing is the best form of communication for me. It lets me express my emotions without having to face the person.

I always write for myself but today I am writing for you.

I am not a professional blogger but one day I want to become one. That may take some time. So if someday I write a book you will be there somewhere just like the pearl in the heart of an ocean.

I fell in love with you the instant I saw you. I love you even today and will do until eternity. Sounds great! Right? But you know there is a sad part in it too. It is a fact that you will never be mine. Although you might be there for me in some probable way. You are the perfect man any woman would love to get married to. I am sure your woman shall be a lucky chic.

It's definitely a tragedy not getting the love back from the one you love. We have read it previously. Probably in poems. Or in other forms of literature. But the beauty of loving someone without expecting anything is profound.

You might not be the most good looking or the most intelligent. I don't even consider you as a hunk. (I hope you know the meaning of the word HUNK). But for me, you are the most beautiful in every way I know. Love just happens. If you love someone for a reason then it is not love. I don't know what it is but my point here is that my love for you has deep and strong roots that penetrate deep in my heart. You are always on my mind. I don't have to miss you because you are right there. In my thoughts. I wonder what it would be like to go against all odds and chose you instead of being chosen. I wish I had the courage. The courage to chose you over my present.

The man in my life at the moment is the best gift you gave me. And thank God for you came along into my life as well. Not as a partner of course but as a ----------. Oh! Nobody shall ever know.

So if someone reads this they would judge me as a disloyal wife. I don't care because I know I am not one. I am just an ordinary girl wanting to be loved. You, unfortunately, can never give me that love because what you can give me is respect and that is more than satisfying. I am silly. I know. But it's good to be silly sometimes. Especially in love.  And you would have known had you felt it.

So Mr XYZ, thank you for coming into my life and for giving me a reason to live. You have inspired me to bring out the best of me to the world. And I shall not put you down. Never.
(By the way, I am not drunk. I am just high. In your love)
Love,
Me.

OM : The Most powerful word we know.

I am not religious. Neither am I an atheist. I believe in Karma. I believe that Work is Worship. Despite all these thoughts I tend to chant Bhajans or Chants when I feel out of the place or restless. One of the chants commonly chanted is the word OM.

Personally, I feel it is a very powerful word. It has given me solace whenever in need. Recently my appetite for more information made me do research on this mantra OM and the results have amazed me.

So, the word OM means Supreme. It is an ancient mantra and is derived from, of course, Sanskrit. One can feel the vibration inside while chanting the sacred word. This vibration is very similar to that of a clap. It is the voice of the universe. It is believed that the sun produces the sound of OM. So the next time you see the sun try hearing it!

Speaking of our very own Yoga which has been responsible for keeping us fit and fine(not me because I have to yet begin with working out), OM is an integral part of it. The exercises in Yoga begin after the recitation of OM. It helps in focusing during meditation. It helps the mind and body to connect (Wait, aren't they connected?).

It is said that OM comprises of all the sounds of the universe. It is known to be the Matrix of all sounds. If you are into chants and mantras you will notice that all of them begin with OM. Even the aartis which are done after the Puja vidhi begin with OM.

The word is written in two forms. OM and AUM. Let's see what happens if they are broken into fragments.

  1. “Ahhh”- This sound resembles the start of the universe and birth. This sound is made at the back of the throat. Deep down in our abdomen, this vibration can be felt.
  1. “Ooooh”- the energy of the universe is represented by the sound ‘Ooooh’. With the help of this sound, we get connected to a sense which tells us that within us there lies something more that is beyond what we see or hear. When we chant this sound, the vibration moves from the back portion of the mouth to the middle portion.
  1. “Mmmm”- This stands for death. When we utter this word, the vibration occurs at the lips which in turn vibrates the crown of the head.
  1. Silence- This is the fourth sound in “OM”. This sound vibration is silent but the energy that is produced is very real and remains in the room even after the chant is finished.

There are many dark secrets in the universe. One such mystery is the word OM. Do we know who was the first to chant this word and how it became so prevalent.? It is said that a human heart is a deep ocean where lie many secrets. I think the world is a place of such mysteries and secrets.

It is believed that NASA has recorded a video of the sun producing the sound of OM. Well, if you believe it is, if you don't it is not. So the next time you chant OM, try finding out its little secret. Maybe chanting it a thousand times will give you enlightenment (something we all are in need of).
