One day you’ll find me gone, just dust in the wind,
A quiet whisper lost where our story begins.
You played the jester, all foolish and sly,
Never once pausing to question why.
Why I lingered near, in shadows and light,
Through your sweetest charms and coldest nights.
You smiled when you pleased, then pushed me away,
Leaving my heart in a disarray.
You saw my tears but wore a blindfold tight,
Trapped me in your games, in day and night.
I was a fleeting moment, a thought to erase,
But I lingered still, in hope’s sweet embrace.
But one day I’ll slip, fade quietly from sight,
No longer tangled in this futile fight.
And when I am dust, and silence surrounds,
Perhaps then you’ll hear what my heart never found.
You’ll look for my smile, search for my voice,
But you’ll find only echoes, the cost of your choice.
Too late to mend, too late to know,
That I was the one you let go.
