The Myth of Time: Do Wounds Truly Heal?

They say time heals all wounds. The saying has been passed down for generations, like an overused band-aid, slapped onto every emotional scrape and cut. But does time really heal, or does it merely sweep the mess under the rug, leaving it to gather dust until one day it resurfaces in all its rawness?

We like to believe that one day, everything will fall into place — that the jagged pieces of our shattered emotions will miraculously assemble into a picture of clarity and peace. But life isn’t a puzzle with a predetermined solution. Some pieces never fit, no matter how much time or effort we spend forcing them together.

The truth is, certain emotions never truly die.

They fade, sure. They lose their sharp edges, dulled by the passage of years and the distractions of daily life. We convince ourselves that we’ve moved on, that we’ve forgiven, that we’ve let go. But all it takes is a single moment — a song, a smell, a fleeting memory — to reopen the floodgates. Suddenly, you’re back in that place, reliving the hurt, the anger, the longing, as though no time has passed at all.

The Weight of Unspoken Words

One of the heaviest burdens to carry is unspoken emotion, especially when it involves loving someone who didn’t love you back. Perhaps they didn’t understand your feelings, or worse, they chose to ignore them. Either way, the rejection stings in a way that no amount of time can completely erase.

You tell yourself they didn’t deserve your love, but late at night, the questions come creeping in. Why didn’t they see me? Why wasn’t I enough? Time might dull the pain, but it doesn’t answer these questions. And so, the ache lingers, tucked away in the corners of your heart, waiting for a quiet moment to make itself known.

The Illusion of Forgiveness

Then there’s the myth of forgiveness — the idea that time will eventually soften the sharp edges of betrayal, allowing us to forgive those who hurt us. Forgiveness, we’re told, is more for ourselves than for the other person. It’s a noble concept, but one that often feels out of reach.

Because how do you forgive someone who broke you in ways you never thought possible? How do you forgive the friend who betrayed your trust, the lover who shattered your heart, the family member who failed you when you needed them most?

Sure, you might tell yourself that you’ve forgiven them. You might even believe it. But then, in an unguarded moment, the bitterness bubbles back to the surface, reminding you that some scars are more than skin deep.

The Inescapable Echoes of Pain

Time is a master of disguise. It covers old wounds with a thin layer of forgetfulness, lulling us into a false sense of healing. But underneath, the pain remains, waiting for a trigger to bring it roaring back to life.

This doesn’t mean we’re weak or incapable of moving on. It simply means we’re human. To feel deeply is both a blessing and a curse. It’s what allows us to love with abandon, but it’s also what makes the inevitable pain of loss and rejection so hard to bear.

And let’s not forget the guilt that often accompanies lingering pain. We chastise ourselves for not letting go, for not “moving on” in the way society expects us to. But healing isn’t a linear process. It’s messy, unpredictable, and deeply personal.

The Quiet Resilience of the Human Heart

Despite all this, there’s a quiet resilience in the human heart. We may never fully forget the pain of being hurt or the ache of unrequited love, but we learn to carry it. It becomes a part of us, shaping who we are and how we navigate the world.

Over time, we may even find beauty in the scars — a reminder of the strength it took to survive, the courage it took to keep loving in the face of heartbreak. Because in the end, it’s not about forgetting or forgiving. It’s about learning to live with the echoes, to coexist with the memories, to find peace amidst the chaos.

THE DAY YOU'LL KNOW, I'LL BE GONE!

One day you’ll find me gone, just dust in the wind,

A quiet whisper lost where our story begins.

You played the jester, all foolish and sly,

Never once pausing to question why.

Why I lingered near, in shadows and light,

Through your sweetest charms and coldest nights.

You smiled when you pleased, then pushed me away,

Leaving my heart in a disarray.

You saw my tears but wore a blindfold tight,

Trapped me in your games, in day and night.

I was a fleeting moment, a thought to erase,

But I lingered still, in hope’s sweet embrace.

But one day I’ll slip, fade quietly from sight,

No longer tangled in this futile fight.

And when I am dust, and silence surrounds,

Perhaps then you’ll hear what my heart never found.

You’ll look for my smile, search for my voice,

But you’ll find only echoes, the cost of your choice.

Too late to mend, too late to know,

That I was the one you let go.

THE DOORMAT CHRONICLES

The Art of Being an Idiot in Liking Someone Who Doesn’t Care

Ever found yourself falling head over heels for someone who treats you like yesterday’s newspaper? You know, that friend, colleague, or random acquaintance you hold in high regard while they barely notice your existence? Yes, that one. It’s almost a rite of passage—this absurd act of elevating someone who couldn’t care less, like you’ve been cast in a tragic-comedy where the joke is always on you. It’s like we are addicted to the thrill of unreciprocated admiration, a spectator sport we willingly play, cheering from the sidelines of someone else’s life.

We’re all guilty of it—admiring that one person who couldn’t give two hoots about our existence. Let’s not sugarcoat it; we’re idiots. Perhaps it’s our desperation for connection or our misplaced faith that, somehow, this person will wake up one day and see our worth. Spoiler alert: they won’t. They’re too busy using us as their personal doormat, casually wiping their feet as they march forward without so much as a backward glance.

You meet them, and suddenly, it feels like you’ve discovered a missing piece of your soul. The illusion is so strong that you believe there’s something profound here—something that transcends the ordinary. But there’s nothing mystical about someone who views you as an afterthought. And yet, here you are, an emotional investor in a bankrupt stock, eagerly awaiting dividends that will never come.

The Illusion of Connection

Let’s talk about this so-called connection. It’s not real. It’s a figment of your imagination, carefully crafted by your mind to fill the void left by unfulfilled desires. You see their slight smile as an invitation, their casual text as a grand declaration of mutual admiration, and their rare acknowledgment of your existence as a cosmic sign that your souls are intertwined. But here’s the harsh truth: they’re not. That “connection” you feel is a one-sided mirage, an emotional catfish of your own making.

We project our fantasies onto these unsuspecting (and usually indifferent) recipients of our affections. We assign meaning to every word, every gesture, and every silence, building a narrative in which we are the protagonist and they, our destined counterpart. Except, in their version of the story, you don’t even make it to the footnotes. And still, we convince ourselves there’s something there, something worth holding on to, when all evidence points to the contrary.

The Door Mat Syndrome

Have you ever stopped to wonder why you’re the one always reaching out, the one making plans, the one constantly available at their beck and call? Congratulations, you’ve officially enrolled in the Doormat University, majoring in Self-Inflicted Disrespect. Your degree? A Ph.D. in Not-So-Subtle Rejection. The irony is, you keep showing up for a test you know you’re destined to fail. You tell yourself it’s worth it because, deep down, they care. It’s just that they’re busy, misunderstood, or maybe not good with emotions. The truth? They just don’t value you enough to reciprocate.

They don’t respond to your messages? Oh, they must be busy. They cancel plans? Surely, something urgent came up. They forget your birthday? No big deal, right? Wrong. These aren’t coincidences; these are patterns. Patterns that scream, “You’re not important.” But our mind, ever the optimist, spins tales of exceptions and rare cases, keeping the illusion alive.

Why Do We Do This?

The answer is simple: validation. We want to matter, to be seen and valued, even if it’s by someone who treats us like background noise. The more they ignore, the harder we try, as if their indifference is a challenge to overcome. We see it as an unspoken game of emotional tug-of-war, except we’re the only ones pulling. And the prize? A fleeting sense of belonging in someone else’s world, no matter how illusory it might be.

But at some point, you have to ask yourself, “Is this worth it?” Is it worth your time, energy, and self-respect? Or are you just playing a game you’ve already lost? The realization that you’re nothing more than a blip on their radar can be jarring, but it’s also liberating. You don’t need to be an unpaid emotional intern to someone else’s ego. You’re better than that.

Closing Thoughts

We can’t always help who we like, but we can help how we let ourselves be treated. It’s okay to admire someone, but it’s not okay to let that admiration turn you into a lesser version of yourself. So, next time you find yourself idolizing someone who barely acknowledges you, remember: you deserve better. And sometimes, the person who needs your attention the most is the one staring back at you in the mirror.

Short Poem:

We chase the echoes of what’s never there,

Building castles from whispers, thin as air.

We stitch connections with threads of hope,

But lose ourselves on this slippery slope.

So let’s unlearn this foolish art,

And reclaim the space inside our heart.

A letter that I should have written long ago...

Hi ...

Its so good to be here, finally!

I know there is a lot going on in your head but at the moment, stay here with me. Give me that shoulder today where I can lay my head and find solace.

Today, I want you to only listen. Listen to my heart beat. Listen to me breathe. Listen to the wind blow and listen to the clouds go.

Be my mirror today. Smile when I smile and share a tear drop with me. When the wind brushes through my hair, be the one who sets it back to its place.

Be my friend, lover and caretaker today. Hug me tight so that I can hear you breathe.

Look into my eyes and feel what my heart feels for you. Hold my hand and make me feel your soul.

Be here , right now. Coz, the next second I know you are not mine to keep.

Our paths are different and so is our journey.

My heart yearns for that one look from you. Your eyes meet mine and I know you feel the same as I do. Smile as thats what my eyes look forward to.

I know we don't meet that often. There are people around us. But in a room full of temporary be my constant for that one moment.

That one moment when my heart skips a beat and when my soul knows its mate.

Soon, you will be gone and so will I. For this all was only for a moment. You have a permanent and so do I.

If and but I can make you mine but I know it is not going to be right. For one moment that you will give only me, I can cherish it forever.

It will remain fresh until I breathe my last. I will feel your warmth even on the coldest night.

I will etch your touch on my body like you are still there. I will capture your smile in my eyes untill they sparkle.

I can never forget you. But I hope you remember me even for a slightest moment.

This one sided love is mine to keep. I am sorry I cannot share it with you. You can have your own share but I know this will never happen.

But if it does, will it be right? I wonder.

I know you will never know, But you will be in my final 7 minutes of life.

Thank you again for those butterflies. Thank you for that emotion you woke up in me that had died long ago.

Thank you for rekindling that emotion called love in me when I almost had lost it.

I hope you know one DAY!

A letter to you that I can never send!

Hi …

It’s so wonderful to be here, at last.

I know your mind is a whirlwind, but for now, stay here with me. Be my refuge today, where I can rest my head and find peace.

Today, I ask you to simply listen. Hear my heartbeat. Feel my breath. Listen to the whispers of the wind and the silent drift of the clouds.

Be my mirror today. Smile when I smile, share a tear when I weep. When the wind tangles my hair, be the gentle hand that sets it back in place.

Be my friend, my lover, my guardian today. Embrace me tightly so I can hear your breath, feel your heartbeat.

Gaze into my eyes and feel what my heart holds for you. Hold my hand, let me touch your soul.

Be present, in this moment. For I know, in the next, you may not be mine to keep.

Our paths diverge, our journeys differ.

My heart longs for your glance. When our eyes meet, I know you feel it too. Your smile is the dawn my eyes await.

Our meetings are rare, and the world surrounds us. Yet, in a sea of fleeting moments, be my constant for just one.

That one heartbeat when my soul recognizes its mate.

Soon, you will leave, and so will I. This moment, ephemeral, will fade. You have your place, and I have mine.

If only I could make you mine, but I know it wouldn’t be right. Still, I will cherish this single moment forever.

It will remain vivid until my last breath. I’ll feel your warmth even on the coldest nights.

I’ll etch your touch upon my skin as if you were still here. Your smile will linger in my eyes, making them sparkle.

I’ll never forget you. I hope you remember me, even for a fleeting moment.

This one-sided love is mine alone. I’m sorry I cannot share it with you. You have your own destiny, but I know this will never be.

But if it could, would it be right? I wonder.

You may never know, but you will be in my final seven minutes of life.

Thank you for the butterflies. Thank you for awakening emotions that had long lain dormant.

Thank you for rekindling the flame of love in a heart that had nearly forgotten it.

I hope, one day, you understand.

The Power of Gratitude: How Acknowledging the Universe Can Transform Your Life

In the hustle and bustle of modern life, we often find ourselves caught in a whirlwind of responsibilities, ambitions, and daily struggles. It's easy to become overwhelmed and lose sight of the simple yet profound joys that surround us. Amid this chaos, one practice stands out as a beacon of tranquility and fulfillment: gratitude. But gratitude is more than just a polite "thank you"; it’s a powerful tool that, when practiced regularly, can transform your life in ways you never imagined.

The Science Behind Gratitude

To understand the transformative power of gratitude, it's essential to delve into the science behind it. Research in positive psychology has shown that gratitude can significantly enhance our well-being. According to a study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, individuals who regularly practice gratitude report higher levels of happiness, lower levels of stress, and greater overall life satisfaction.

Neuroscientists have found that gratitude activates the brain's reward system, releasing dopamine and serotonin—the “feel-good” neurotransmitters. This biochemical response not only makes us feel happier but also enhances our ability to handle stress and adversity. Essentially, gratitude rewires our brain to seek out and focus on positive experiences, creating a virtuous cycle of well-being.

The Spiritual Dimension of Gratitude

Beyond the scientific explanations, gratitude has a profound spiritual dimension. Many ancient philosophies and religions, from Buddhism to Christianity, emphasize the importance of being thankful. This universal principle suggests that acknowledging the universe's abundance can align us with a higher frequency of positivity and abundance.

When we express gratitude, we are, in essence, recognizing the interconnectedness of all things. We acknowledge that we are not isolated beings but part of a vast, intricate web of life. This recognition fosters a sense of humility and reverence, reminding us that there is something greater than ourselves at work.

Transforming Daily Life Through Gratitude

Incorporating gratitude into our daily lives doesn't require monumental changes; it starts with small, intentional practices. Here are some practical ways to cultivate gratitude and transform your daily life:

Gratitude Journaling: Each day, take a few minutes to write down three things you are grateful for. They can be as simple as a delicious meal or a kind gesture from a friend. Over time, this practice shifts your focus from what’s lacking to the abundance that already exists.

Mindful Acknowledgment: Throughout the day, pause and take a moment to appreciate the beauty around you—a blooming flower, a child's laughter, or a beautiful sunset. These mindful acknowledgments can ground you in the present moment and deepen your sense of appreciation.

Expressing Gratitude to Others: Take time to express your gratitude to the people around you. A heartfelt thank-you note or a sincere compliment can strengthen your relationships and create a ripple effect of positivity.

Meditation and Reflection: Incorporate gratitude into your meditation practice. Spend a few minutes each day reflecting on the things you are grateful for. This can enhance your sense of peace and connectedness.

The Ripple Effect of Gratitude

Gratitude doesn’t just transform individuals; it has a ripple effect that extends to communities and beyond. When we practice gratitude, we radiate positive energy that influences those around us. This can create a more compassionate and supportive environment, fostering stronger connections and a greater sense of belonging.

A Personal Touch

As someone who has personally experienced the transformative power of gratitude, I can attest to its profound impact. There was a time in my life when I felt overwhelmed by challenges and uncertainties. I started practicing gratitude as a last resort, skeptical of its promises. But as I committed to daily journaling and mindful acknowledgments, I began to notice a shift. The challenges didn’t disappear, but my perspective changed. I felt more resilient, more connected, and more at peace.

Gratitude opened my eyes to the abundance in my life—the supportive friends, the opportunities for growth, and the simple joys that I had taken for granted. It was as if a veil had lifted, revealing a world brimming with beauty and possibility.

Call to Action

Now, I invite you to embark on your own journey of gratitude. Take a moment to reflect on the blessings in your life, no matter how small. Start a gratitude journal, express your thanks to those around you, and embrace the present moment with appreciation.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences with gratitude. How has it impacted your life? What practices have you found most effective? Share your stories in the comments below, and let’s inspire each other to live more grateful, fulfilling lives.

By acknowledging the universe’s abundance, we open ourselves to a life of greater joy, resilience, and connection. Gratitude is more than a fleeting emotion; it’s a way of life that can transform our reality. So, let’s start today—one thankful thought at a time.

An Ode to Broken Bonds

This is for you, my dear friends,

Those who once held my heart's tender threads,

Sisters by choice, bound by trust,

In shadows now, our bond to dust.

We laughed and cried, shared secret dreams,

Life flowed like a gentle stream,

But under the surface, unseen strife,

A twist of fate, a cut of the knife.

I opened my heart, laid bare my soul,

Confided in you, made myself whole,

Yet whispers grew, trust unraveled,

In a web of lies, our bond traveled.

You played the victim, cast me the foe,

In a twisted tale, you let me go,

Blocked and banned, with hearts turned cold,

A story untold, a bond unsold.

Misunderstood, seen as a threat,

A competitor in life's cruel set,

You saw shadows where none did lie,

And in the end, I wonder why.

For what we shared, was it all in vain?

Do you recall our joys, our pain?

Or did you bury it, deep in the sand,

With broken trust, by your own hand?

Our paths diverged, in the blink of an eye,

A friendship lost, a silent cry,

I search for reasons, find only tears,

A bond that withered through the years.

To my sisters in spirit, now shadows past,

I cherish the memories, though they did not last,

In the garden of life, some flowers fade,

Yet the scent remains, in the memories made.

To those who broke and walked away,

To those who blame and keep at bay,

I forgive you, though you cast me aside,

For in my heart, the pain does bide.

But know this truth, I loved you well,

Even as our friendship fell,

In the echo of our shared days,

A lingering sadness, in twilight's haze.

So here’s my ode, my final plea,

For what we were, and what could be,

May your journey find you peace and light,

As I mourn our bond, in the silent night.

In the end, we part, with hearts unspoken,

For some bonds are meant to be broken,

And as I pen these words in sorrow,

I find no solace in tomorrow.

Goodbye, my friends, my sisters once,

In memories, our story runs,

A tale of trust, and bonds that end,

A sad farewell, to my dear friends.
